The short version
- The pages you scan, the files you download, and the URL lists you import never reach us. That all happens in your browser.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking, in the extension or on this website. We don't sell your information.
- The free version never contacts our servers.
- If you buy Pro, we keep your email address and your license key, and the extension checks the key with our server about once a week.
- Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
Who we are
Bulk File Downloader ("we", "us") is operated by Nathanael Schnell, an individual based in South Carolina, USA. We are responsible for the information described here (under the GDPR, we are the "controller"). Contact us at [email protected].
This policy covers the Bulk File Downloader Chrome extension, this website (bulkfiledownloads.com), our license server, and buying Pro.
The extension
What stays on your device
- The pages you scan and the list of files found on them.
- The files you download. They go straight from the website to your computer through Chrome's download manager.
- URL lists and CSV files you paste or import, and the file names you choose.
- Your settings, your download queue, and your license status, kept in Chrome's local storage for the extension.
- A count of successful batches, used only to decide when to show a one-time "leave a review" note.
The extension only reads a page after you click its icon on that page. It contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking code, and it doesn't load code from anywhere else.
Requests the extension makes to other websites
Some features fetch things directly from the website you're using. These requests go from your browser to that website, never through us:
- Downloading the files you select.
- Save as ZIP and Look up file sizes fetch the files (or just their size) from the sites involved. Chrome asks your permission for those sites first.
- Scan linked pages (Pro) fetches up to 100 pages on the same site you're scanning, two levels deep. It sends your browser's normal cookies for that site, so it sees what you would see. It checks the site's robots.txt first and skips links that look like actions, such as log out, delete, or add to cart.
Those websites receive the same information as when you visit them yourself, such as your IP address and browser details. Their own privacy policies apply.
License checks (Pro only)
If you activate a Pro license key, the extension sends our license server:
- your license key;
- a random ID for this browser, created by the extension and not linked to your Google account or device;
- a label such as "Chrome on macOS (a1b2c3d4)", so you can tell your browsers apart.
It does this when you activate a key, about once a week afterwards, and when you remove the key from a browser. The server answers with the features the key unlocks and your email address in masked form (like "n•••@gmail.com"). We use this only to check that the key is valid, to limit one key to 5 browsers at a time, and to turn off keys that were refunded or disputed.
Like any web server, ours sees the IP address a request comes from. We use it only in the moment, to limit how many requests one address can make (this stops people from guessing keys). We don't store it with your license.
Purchases
Pro is sold through Link, Stripe's merchant-of-record service. Link is the seller of record for your purchase: it takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and prevents fraud. Stripe and Link process your payment details under their own privacy policies (Stripe, Link). We never see or store your full card number.
From your purchase, Stripe shares with us your email address, your name and billing address as you entered them, what you bought, and the payment status (including refunds and disputes). This stays in our Stripe account. Our license server keeps only what it needs to issue and check your key:

After checkout you return to our /thanks page, which sends the checkout session ID from the address bar to our license server so it can show you your key.
This website
bulkfiledownloads.com has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking scripts, and it doesn't set cookies. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes the technical data every website receives (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to answer you. When you buy Pro, we email a copy of your license key to the address you used at checkout, and we email that address again if Turbo is added to your key or you ask us to resend your key. We don't send marketing emails and we don't add you to any mailing list.
How we use information
- To provide what you bought: issuing, checking, and restoring your Pro license. (Under the GDPR, the legal basis is performing our contract with you.)
- To prevent abuse: rate limits, the browser limit per key, and turning off refunded or disputed keys. (Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service and its buyers.)
- To support you: answering your emails. (Legal basis: contract or legitimate interest.)
- To meet legal duties: keeping payment records for tax and accounting. (Legal basis: legal obligation.)
That's all. We don't use your information for advertising or profiling, we don't combine it with other data, and we don't use it to train AI models.
The extension's use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep it
- License records (email, key, purchase IDs): as long as the license exists, so that your "lifetime" key keeps working and can be restored. You can ask us to delete them at any time. That also turns the key off.
- Browser activations: until you remove the key from that browser, or until a new browser takes the slot of one that hasn't checked in for 30 days.
- Rate-limit counters: a few hours at most.
- Emails with us: as long as needed to help you, then deleted when no longer needed.
- Payment records in Stripe: as long as tax and accounting laws require, typically several years.
Everything the extension stores on your device is deleted when you uninstall it. You can remove your license from a browser at any time under License → Remove from this browser.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you, correct, delete, or give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can object to how we use it. Email [email protected] from the address you used at checkout, so we can confirm the request is yours. We'll answer within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
In the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you also have the right to restrict processing and to complain to your local data protection authority.
In California and other US states with privacy laws, you have the right to know what we collect (described in this policy), to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell or share personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of.
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the US and other countries. Where the law requires it, they transfer data using safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
Every connection to our server and this website is encrypted (HTTPS). License keys are randomly generated and too long to guess, and our server limits how often anyone can try. The extension contains no passwords or secret keys; our Stripe keys live only on the server. No system is perfectly secure, but we collect as little as possible, so there is little to expose.
Permissions explained
Chrome shows these when you install the extension. Here is what each one is for:
Children
Bulk File Downloader isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age). If you believe a child has bought Pro, email us and we'll delete the information and refund the purchase.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we'll describe it on this page before it takes effect. We won't start collecting data from the free version, or using your information for anything new, without asking you.
