How the Extension Works

Bulk File Downloader operates entirely within your browser. Here's how it works:

  • Active Tab Permission: The extension only accesses webpage content when you click the extension icon. It cannot access any page unless you explicitly activate it.
  • Page Scanning: When activated, the extension scans the current page's HTML for downloadable file links. This scanning happens locally in your browser—no data is sent anywhere.
  • Downloads: When you choose to download files, the extension uses Chrome's built-in downloads API to save files directly to your computer. We don't intercept or monitor these downloads.

Permissions Explained

The extension requests these Chrome permissions:

activeTab Allows the extension to access the current tab only when you click on the extension icon. This is the most privacy-respecting way to access page content.
downloads Required to save files to your computer using Chrome's download manager.

Data Storage

Bulk File Downloader does not store any data locally or remotely. Each time you use the extension, it starts fresh with no memory of previous sessions. Your downloaded files are saved to your computer through Chrome's standard download process.

Third-Party Services

Bulk File Downloader does not use any third-party services, analytics platforms, or external servers. The extension operates completely offline after installation.
